Limassol Nautical Club (LNC)

The LNC was founded in 1962 by a few passionate Limassolians and it started with one department and gradually grew to one of the biggest nautical clubs of the island.

We are currently operating 6 sport departments: Rowing which consists of 2 sub-categories, Olympic rowing for the youth and Coastal rowing for adults, Sailing, Canoe – Kayak (for which we’ve been National Champions for the 9th consecutive year), Water Polo, Swimming (LNC is the National Champion for the 3rd consecutive year) and last but not least, the newfound Triathlon Department. Our club is home to over 800 athletes and 400 members and we want to see it growing and evolving to international standards.

Since 1980 our athletes have been at the forefront of the athletic scene of the island with 4 participations at the Moscow Olympics in Swimming and Sailing! Since then we’ve had many participations at the Olympics and Paralympics in Swimming, Sailing and Windsurfing. The highlight of both our club and the country is Pavlos Kontides’ Silver Medal at the London Olympics and his continuous excellence in European and World Championships.

Our main goal as a club is to spread awareness on the different sports, keep developing our departments and strengthen the sports scene of the island by hosting and participating in International games and of course by collaborating with International federations.

The Limassol Nautical Club is the only club in Cyprus that has a coastal rowing division. We have more than 50 active athletes, while our team was represented by 16 athletes at the World Rowing Coastal Championship in Hong Kong in 2019. Our vision is to see Coastal Rowing thrive in Cyprus and growing both in participants as well as competition.

As a nautical club we strive to give back to the society, engage people in sports and organise activities for the general audience. Other than our usual activity in sports, we organise an annual Summer Camp that aims to introduce young children to nautical sports and educate them on the importance of staying active and healthy. As a club we also organise social events such as lectures, screenings and gigs and by supporting fundraising activities for charity causes.

The club is operating under an elected Board and is employing more than 20 full-time coaches. Our aim is to do the best we can to enrich the sports scene in Cyprus as well as give back to society and support innovation and research in this field.
