Veslački klub Val was founded in Split, Croatia in 2009 as the first rowing club in Croatia with the main objective to promote and participate in newly developing sport of coastal rowing. The club is a member of Split-Dalmatian County Rowing Federation and a member of Croatian Rowing Federation since 2014. Its president, Igor Boraska, is the Croatian Rowing Federation official commissioner for coastal rowing from 2018 to this day.

The club participates in coastal rowing regattas, mostly in Mediterranean and at FISA World Rowing Coastal Championships, but it prides itself for encouraging recreational, non-competitive rowing for masters rowers, with main objective to have mature-aged people living a healthy lifestyle, enjoy the sport and have fun doing it, rather than racing the other crews.
